January 22, 2008 - Lily's First Birthday
Today is a great day for 2 reasons - Lily is 1 today and we are
officially her parents as of today! We completed the adoption
registration so she is officially our daughter. She is adjusting
despite a bad chest cough and not feeling well. I just know every
time she looks at me she is thinking "who is this blonde lady?!" But
she is getting used to both of us. Hopefully, she will feel better
soon. This afternoon we will do some shopping for clothes (now that
we know her size - small!!) and some squeaky shoes. It is somewhat
damp today so we don't want her out too much. She is taking her
bottles well and is trying a little solid food - she is definately
not used to the texture of solid food. So we'll take it slow with
her - it will be easier at home with baby food. Not too much else is
going on, she slept last night from 9pm to 7am when we HAD to wake
her. Dad and I slept awful, so we need naps too. Suz

Gotcha Day - January 21, 2008
It is almost 9 PM and it is the first time available to post. The
Bethany group did not get here from Beijing until 2:30 in the
afternoon and we were getting a bit worried. We were told to not
leave the room after 12:00 and the wait seemed endless. At 3:30 we
boarded a bus with 8 other families and departed for the babies.

Shiyan - the group leader from China - established an order to accept
the babies on the bus ride. They must have gone by age as the Paynes
were to be last. We had the duty of picture taker for a few of the
families and of course Lily came out as the second baby in our
group. Chaos - complete chaos. Cameras were flying everywhere -
video cameras were airbone between couples - all trying to get a shot
of their new babies.
It is time for Lily to get to bed - so more in 9 hours. Happy Day,
Greg, Sue and Lily
